All Depp's Lies

There’s a lot of talk about Amber Heard lying during the defamation trial in Fairfax and the fallout has been explosive with social media producing memes and videos ridiculing the actress but little is said about the lies and discrepancies Johnny told on the stand. Here’s a run down…

THE BOSTON FLIGHT

Depp claims he wasn’t abusive on the Boston flight and that he never kicked Amber.

LIE: Texts to Amber apologising saying he doesn’t know what he did and needs to get better.

Apparently, Depp’s assistant Stephen Deuters does remember and confirms Depp kicked Amber on the flight in a text he sent to her.

In the UK trial, Depp’s team tried to leak a story to TMZ claiming the texts were doctored but Deuters confirms that they weren’t while being cross examined by Sacha Wass.

With the texts exposing Depp, he decided to block them from being used in the U.S. trial. Stephen Deuters (Also CEO for In 2 Film – Depp’s production company) would not testify in Virginia.

Amber hires forensic computer analyst, Kevin Cohen to verify the texts confirming their authenticity.

DRUGS & ALCOHOL

Depp claims he only had a couple of glasses of champagne on the plane and sat quietly sketching.

LIE: Depp’s texts show he told Paul Bettany he was on pills and powders. Drunk two bottles of Champagne, whiskey and in a blackout. 

LIE: UK Transcripts Depp said “Sure” when asked if he had done drink and drugs before and during the Boston flight.

LIE: Howling Depp plane audio with perfect metadata played. Depp agrees it is his voice howling.

Depp denies that the audio is from plane flight

LIE: Metadata proves it is

Depp cllaims Jerry Judge didn’t say “Stay with this fucking idiot in case he gets sick”

LIE: He does and Depp agrees its Jerry Judges voice on audio.

ORIENT EXPRESS

Originally, only Amber claimed to have been assaulted on the Orient Express. Depp later changes his story and claims he was also assaulted after he is presented with audio of him saying they had a ‘fight which was physical’ on the train. As only Amber claimed injury from that fight, this would implicate Depp so he changed his story. Depp then presented the edited photo showing a mark under his left eye

LIE: There is a photo of Depp with the same mark under his eye the day before he got on the train.

The photo below shows that the mark under Depp’s eye is just a contour of his face and appears in many photos dating back years.

DEPP’S WITNESS

Depp’s witness, Malcolm Connolly travelled with Depp and Amber on the train. He was several compartments away from the couple. Connolly said that he had not seen any injuries on Amber.

Nowhere in his witness statement did he mention that Depp was injured.

THE HEADBUTT

In his UK Witness statement Depp categorically denies headbutting Amber Heard.

Audio is played of him saying to Amber, “I headbutted you in the f*cking forehead”.

Depp then changes his story and claims he restrained and their heads just bumped.

Bizarrely, Depp then denies that Amber had bruises despite photo evidence and several witnesses testifying to seeing them.

Dr Anderson testified that Amber showed her the bruises in person.

Melanie Inglessis the make up artist testified that she covered the bruises.

Nurse Erin noted the incident and Amber’s split lip in her notes.

Dozens of texts show a digital trail referring to the incident including “Johnny did a number on me tonight”. She tells Nurse Erin “I found a bunch of coke which explains it”. Nurse Erin later writes, “do you want me to check on him. I assume, he was NOT the one getting hurt”. This indicates that it is common knowledge that Amber is the one who suffers from Depp’s outbursts.

AUSTRALIA

THE WALL PHONE

In the U.S. trial, Depp claimed there was no phone on the wall during the Australia incident. The one Amber said he was smashing. 

LIE: In the U.K. trial, Depp testified that there was a phone on the wall during the Australia incident and that he ripped the phone off the wall.

THE PRE-NUP

In Depp’s UK testimony he says the argument started because Amber was upset about a pre-nup meeting.

LIE: Amber had already hired Michelle Mulrooney to handle the pre-nup. Talks between her attorney and Depp’s were in progress over a month before her visit to Australia. An email trail shows Mulrooney contacting Dana Lowey on 2nd February 2015.

THE DATE OF THE INCIDENT

Amber has always maintained that the incident took place over three days from the 6th – 8th.

Depp says the only argument they had started and ended on 8th March 2015.

LIE: Depp testified that he argued with Amber about a pre-nup which later became a post-nup. Amber’s lawyer, Michelle Mulrooney received a call from Depp hours after her last email on the 5th March 2015. Mulrooney testified that Depp called her a bitch and fired her. If Depp cites any discussion about a pre-nup as the catalyst for the argument, then it started on the 5th and ended when he went to hospital on the 8th.

THE PRE-NUP / POST-NUP

Depp claimed that Amber was angry and started the fight because she did not want a pre-nup. This is a lie. Amber had hired attorney, Michelle Mulrooney to handle her end of the pre-nup agreement. Correspondence with Depp’s attorneys dates back to the 2nd February before the marriage. After that point, the pre-nup changed into a post-nup with correspondence continuing up to the 5th March. 

DEPP WAS ALREADY ANGRY BEFORE AMBER ARRIVED

The more likely reason for Depp’s three day drugs binge and anger was his disagreement on set while filming Pirates.

DRUGS

Most likely, given Depp’s history, he turns to drugs. In Depp’s UK witness statement he claims he did not take any drugs in March 2015 but his texts suggest otherwise.

Depp had also being taking drugs while his friend Marilyn Manson visited in February.

Depp’s claim that he did not take drugs in Australia conflicts with texts he was sending to Nathan Holmes in which he asked him to procure ecstasy and cocaine. Note that Depp asks to be ecstatic ‘again’ insinuating that this is a repeat request. He also asks for 'more happy pills' from Manson's supplier.

FINGER

Depp admitted to cutting his own finger in both audio when talking directly to Amber and in texts to both Dr Kipper and Nurse Erin.

Audio – Depp talking to Amber: “I’m talking about Australia. The day that I chopped my finger off“.

Audio – Amber talking to Depp: “Exactly! Because you’re bigger and your’re stronger. And so when I say that I thought you could kill me, that doesn’t mean you counter with you also lost your own finger“.

Text to Dr Kipper: I cut the top of my middle finger off.. What should I do!?? Except, of couse, go to hospital.

Text to Dr Kipper: I have chopped off my left middle finger as a reminder that I should never cut my finger off again!!

Text to Nurse Erin: Ol’ Kipper… this is my second time that he’s held off givin me meds by blackmailing me in to seeing him.. The first time I had just chopped my finger off.

There is not one contemporaneous text, email or audio recording of Depp ever claiming that Amber cut his finger. There is no record of Depp claiming that Amber injured his finger until after she files for divorce. This suggests that he made up the finger story as part of his DARVO defence.

In his UK Witness statement Depp claims the bottle “smashed against” his hand.

In the US Depp claimed that Amber threw a bottle which exploded 'near' his hand which was palm down on the bar. With his hand palm down, the underside of his finger tip is cut off. There is no record or photographs showing any other cuts or scratches to his hand.

Depp also claimed that Amber put a cigarette out on his face.

It is interesting to note that in 2012 Amber reported to her therapist, (Bonnie Jacobs) that Depp would self harm including burning himself with a cigarette. Depp himself mention his self harm in a 1993 interview.

Bonnie Jacobs writes, “She can’t make J stop. J has been late and missing work because of drinking and drugs. People, some friends angry about his behavior. Unprofessional. Gets so angry w/ self he burns his skin w/ cigarettes. Tried to get him to stop but he gets angrier. Loves him and wants to help him.“

Depp's own Dr Blaustein confirms that Depp self harmed.

Another discrepancy arises with Dr Kipper’s testimony. He claims that Depp told him he cut his finger holding his hands up to protect his face. This is a different story from the one Depp told. Presumably for this reason, Dr Kipper’s testimony in this instance was not used.

WHERE WAS THE FINGER FOUND

There seems to be a conflict in the testimony of Dr Kipper and Ben King about where the finger was found. Ben King said the finger was found downstairs in the bar.

Dr Kipper says the finger was found upstairs in the kitchen.

MISSING TESTIMONY

What is interesting about Depp’s testimony is that he fails to mention what Amber did immediately after his finger was injured. Given everything we know about Amber from his own account of her following him around it seems unlikely that she would simply stand and watch him paint deranged messages all over the house with his bloody stump for hours. It seems even more unlikely that she would simply watch while he threw paint on her clothes and painted all over her art work in her studio. Depp offers no suggestions to where Amber was or what she was doing during this time.

In Amber’s account of the incident she states that she went upstairs and took sleeping pills and never saw Depp and the destruction until she woke hours later.

STAIRCASE INCIDENT

In the UK Depp was shown a picture of Amber’s clothing racks all ‘knocked down’. He was asked if he did it. Depp replied, “I did not do it“.

Depp’s own witness, Debbie Lloyd testified, “I saw Johnny push over one of Amber’s clothing racks.”

Another of Depp’s witnesses, Travis McGivern testified that Depp, “threw down probably every rack of clothing and shoes, threw one, at least one down the stairs.

In the US trial, Depp claimed he did not know why Amber was angry with him the night the fight on the staircase started.

In the UK trial, it was clear that the argument started because Amber found his cheating texts on his ipad.

THE MONSTER

Depp claims the ‘Monster’  is Amber’s word about her perception of Depp on substances. Depp claims it’s her word.

LIE: 2012 text to Elton John “I would have been swallowed up by the monster if not for you” Depp’s use of the word here confirms another lie.

LIE: Text from Jerry Judge 26 April 2015: “Lovely seeing you so happy” Depp’s response: “All I Had to do was send the monster away and lock him up”

LIE: Text to Kipper – June 28th 2015 “I’ve locked my monster child away and it has worked”

LIE: Text to S. Deuters: may 14th 2015. “Don’t worry the monster is not involved”

LIE: Text to S Deuters Oct 2013 “She thinks my Peruvian period has made me a monster” i.e. Cocaine period

LIE: Unknown recipient text from Depp “I shall exit a monster” Texts about doing drugs specifically E.

SOBRIETY

Depp says Amber wasn’t supportive of his sobriety.

LIE: Text from Lily Rose – “you’ve been a better Dad to Jack and me since she’s been around and she was helping with the alcohol problem. I’ve just seen what a positive effect she’s had on you and I’m afraid those things will leave with her.

Depp blocked Lily-Rose’s text from being used in the Virginia trial.

LIE: Texts produced showing Depp said only Amber got him sober!!! 

Text to Amber’s mother. “I couldn’t have made it without her” “I wouldn’t be alive” “It was Amber and Amber only who got me through this”

LIE: Audio played of Amber and Depp talking. Amber says to Depp she was on the other side of the door all night worried he would vomit in his sleep. Depp asks if he does vomit in his sleep in audio. He doesn’t even know. Amber says if he doesn’t know, he has an even bigger problem than she first thought. She is clearly worried and trying to help him stay alive!!

LIE: BLACK MASS Boston Milkshake photo was taken to show Depp how bad his opiate problem has become.

KIDS

Depp claims his kids didn’t like Amber.

LIE: 2013 text to Elton John saying his kids are head over heels in love with Amber.

LIE: After the Boston flight, Depp was too ill from all the drugs and drink he took the night before and couldn’t take his daughter, Lily-Rose for a meal planned for her birthday. Amber took Lily-Rose out instead.

Text from Lily-Rose to Amber asking, “are you okay” four days after Depp headbutted Amber. Lily-Rose finishes the text with, “I hope you know I’m here for you. That will never change. Love you Ladyballs”.

OPIATES

Depp denies taking Opiates to get high.

LIE: He texted Erin, one of Dr Kipper’s nurses, who messaged him saying she was watching Black Mass…Depp texted back “I was high as a mother fucker when I made that film HAHAHA”

JEALOUSY

Depp said he wasn’t jealous of who Amber spent time with when filming.

LIE: On the night before the Boston plane flight he agreed in UK transcripts he likely had a heated discussion about a scene with James Franco. He agrees he thought they had an affair.

Depp said isn’t jealous of who Amber socialises with at work

LIE: Mirror finger paint “Starring Billy Bob and Easy Amber” Depp was jealous of her acting with famous men.

Depp claims to not be insecure about Amber socialising with other people

LIE: In Uk trial he said her socialising with other people occasionally did make him feel jealous

LIE: Audio of Johnny and Amber Depp played says “I become irrational when you are doing movies I become jealous, fucking crazy and weird. And we fight a lot more”

LIE: Depp wrote jealous abuse on a countertop in gold Sharpie pen at ECB. Depp admits this to court.

DISNEY

Depp claims Amber ruined his relationship with Disney regarding Pirates of the Caribbean

LIE: Depp’s text to Deuters whilst working on Pirates 5 in Australia “Honestly, I will not again be doing anything……having whored for all these wasted pieces of shit….every cunting fight…every fucking time….I held my rage down”. This was 2015 while he was still with Amber.

LIE: Unsealed documents show Tracy Jacobs was getting calls from Disney who “was not going to put up” with Depp’s bad behaviour.

LIE: Texts regarding Depp’s behaviour to Tracy Jacobs.

Depp didn’t know Disney were considering removing him or dramatically reducing his role in Pirates 6.

LIE: This had already become international news that Depp was out of Pirates 6. two months before OP ED. Depp then confirms “It’s odd they were gonna release me” due to the fact they still sold Captain Jack Sparrow merchandise and had theme park rides related to the character still operating.

Depp says Amber’s allegations lost him the Pirates role…

LIE: Depp said he wouldn’t go back for “300 million dollars or a million alpacas.” Magazine article claiming Depp was out as Captain Jack Sparrow, dated two months before Heard’s ope-ed, read aloud in court

DRUGS

Depp denied he had used any drugs other than marijuana before Amber arrived in Australia

LIE: Depp was having Nathan Holmes (personal assistant) do a drug run of cocaine to Depp.

LIE: Text Nathan to get happy pills from Marilyn Mansons assistant/ drug dealer Ryan.

LIE: Depp text to Stephen Deuters about a “wee baggee of drugs you have for me” from Ryan / Munsons (MANSON)

LIE: Anyone of you guys try to lecture me (about drugs) I am a grown man….I’ll do whatever I damn well please. “I’m not unhappy, I’m insane” Depp requests can he be ecstatic again. Requests ecstasy from Nathan.

LIE: “Need more whitey stuff and the E business. I am in bad bad shape. Say nothing to nobody”

Depp testified Miss Heard wanted Ecstasy….

LIE: Depp requested to Nathan “he get ecstatic again” in text

LIE: Depp requested cocaine and ecstasy for HIMSELF from his Dr right after his finger was cut

Depp denied asking for more ecstacy…

LIE: In UK transcripts Depp agrees he was asking for cocaine and ecstasy

Depp agrees he has done pills with Bettany but not XANAX or ADDERALL

LIE: In Depp’s UK testimony he admits he would give Bettany XANAX and shared an enjoyment of controlled drugs and alcohol. Whatever drugs Bettany needed.

GOLD DIGGER THEORY

Depp says Amber made false allegations of domestic abuse for money in divorce

LIE: Depp signed a divorce document that read “Neither party has made false accusations for financial gain”

LIE: Under California law Amber was entitled to $50 million but only accepted the minimum amount of $7 million. 

LIE: Amber’s lawyers sent her a document to sign to confirm that she knew that she was giving up millions of dollars.

Depp didn’t know Disney were considering removing him or dramatically reducing his role in Pirates 6.

DEPP’S WITNESSES

Depp wasn’t the only one who lied and changed his story. There are also inconsistencies with Depp’s witnesses stories.

POOP

Hilda Vargas (the cleaner) said she found the poop, photographed it cleaned and washed the sheets then when Kevin Murphy called she sent the photo to him. 

Murphy said he got the photo and went over to the Penthouse and saw the poop on the bed. He couldn’t have because Vargas already said she cleaned it up before sending the photo.

In the UK Murphy testified that Amber told him it was a prank. When Murphy would no longer testify in the US, Starling Jenkins took over the story in the US saying Amber told him it was a horrible joke gone wrong. Jenkins had not mentioned any of this in his UK statement. Depp simply switched the witnesses to keep the story going.

DEPP’S PHOTO

Amber claimed that after her birthday party when Depp turned up late and intoxicated, he assaulted her. Using typical DARVO techniques Depp claimed that it was he who was injured. He submitted a photo which Sean Bett claimed to have taken showing marks on his face.

The problem with the photo is that it was taken in 2015 and not 2016 when Depp alleged he was assaulted.

BEN KING

Depp’s property manager, Ben King claimed that he assessed all the damages done in the house in Australia and didn’t observe a broken phone or damage to the wall. However, in the UK trial, Depp admitted that he remembered, “ripping a phone off the wall”.

CHRISTI DEBROWSKI

Depp’s sister, Christi Debrowski claimed that she was not worried about Depp’s drug and alcohol problem. Debrowski sent a text to her brother Johnny Depp saying, “Stop coke. Stop drinking. Stop Pills.”

When asked about the text, Ms Debrowski claimed she didn’t know what that meant.

Note: In a previous case Depp had alleged his sister had unlawfully taken several million dollars from him.

TRINITY ESPARZA

Trinity Esparza, worked on the front desk at Johnny’s penthouses. She claimed in her witness statement for the UK trial that Amber and Whitney were caught on CCTV practicing fake punches. Mysteriously, that footage has never been seen. Ms Esparza was not called to testify.

ISAAC BARUCH

In another case of story swapping, Depp’s friend, Isaac Baruch, claimed in the US he had seen the fake-punch video. This had never been mentioned in his witness statement in the UK or during cross-examination.

MALCOLM CONNOLLY

Depp’s security guard, Malcolm Connolly claimed Amber did not have any cuts or scratches on her arms after the Australia incident. Jerry Judge is on Audio saying, “she has scratches on her left arm”. 

Ben King testified to seeing the cuts on Amber's arm.

WHY DID DEPP’S STAFF LIE?

“TMG also paid millions of dollars to various members of Mr Depp’s staff, many of whom will be witnesses in the underlying lawsuit”.
