It’s been over a year since the Depp v Heard trial. People have had a chance to look and compare what Johnny Depp said in the UK trial and what he told the jury in Virginia. There are many inconsistencies.
AMBER CLAIMED DEPP ASSAULTED HER
One of the incidents on that timeline was an assault which happened in 2015 on The Orient Express. In her witness statement, Amber claimed that Depp had assaulted her on the train.
DEPP’S RESPONSE
In response to this claim, Depp wrote in his UK witness statement, “In August 2015, Ms Heard and I were travelling on the Eastern Oriental train in Southern Asia. However, I was not violent towards Ms Heard in any way at this or any other time.”
Depp categorically denied any physical violence took place.
DAMNING AUDIO IS PRODUCED
Audio of Depp admitting to physical violence on the train is produced. At this point only Amber had claimed to have been assaulted.
In the recording Depp says, “Since Australia we’ve been on our honeymoon, we had a great time other than the fact that we had a fight on the train which was physical“.
This incriminated Depp as the only person who had claimed to have been physically abused was Amber. This left Depp as the person who was physically violent.
DEPP CHANGES HIS STORY
The audio confirmed that there was a physical fight on the train. Having heard this, the only way to deflect blame was for Depp to also claim to have been assaulted. This is a typical example of DARVO – Deny Attack and Reverse Victim and Offender.
Depp produces an undeniably edited photo of himself on the train with a mark under his eye. The original was readily available on the Orient Express social media. There is no mark. Just a little shadow.
Depp insisted on scrutinising Amber Heard’s photographs with experts but all they managed to prove was that the colour was slightly different on a photo she took after Depp threw a phone at her. This is a common occurrence in photographs taken with the HDR (High Dynamic Range) setting. On iPhone, while using the HDR setting one photograph is taken with two versions or exposures stored which show slightly different colouring.
IT GETS WORSE….
On the day before Depp’s alleged injury he can be seen in a photograph with the same mark.
DEPP’S WITNESS
Depp’s witness, Malcolm Connolly travelled with Depp and Amber on the train. He was several compartments away from the couple. Connolly said that he had not seen any injuries on Amber.
Nowhere in his UK witness statement did he mention that Depp was injured.
DIARY
Amber’s account remained the same except for some confusion over the exact date when the trip took place. Her account is recorded in her diary which she wrote, “He hit me several times. I don’t even know how I wound up with this huge rather annoying knot on the back of my head”.
DARVO
It is worth noting that Jennifer Freyd, the professor who came up with the term DARVO believes Depp to be the abuser and that the trial is a classic example of the technique employed by abusers.
