Amber gives an account of her time in Tokyo with Depp in 2015. She doesn't remember how the argument started but claimed Depp grabbed Amber, slammed her against a wall, pulled her hair and hit her in the back of the head. She claims that at one point he kneeled on her back.
Because they were at the premiere of Mortecai, she was wearing an evening gown. The gown was backless and she was worried there would be bruises from the attack and describes checking her phone worried that they would be seen. Fortunately (or unfortunately) there were no visible bruises.

Depp's response to this claim is that the trip went without incident. He claimed that he wouldn't even raise his voice whilst his children were around although the children were in a separate room.

There really isn't much evidence to support either version of this event other than the fact that Amber and Depp were in Tokyo at this time. It would be futile for Amber to make this story up given that she had no evidence to corroborate it. What makes the story more real are the smaller details like her checking photos of her back and sitting at the piano with Depp after the assault. Amber recalls:
"I don't know how much time had passed. He was sitting at the piano in the living room of the hotel room that we had. I know it may be hard to understand. It's hard for me to hear myself say, but I felt... I just wanted it to stop. I wanted things to just be okay. And I just sat next to him on the piano and I just laid my head on his shoulder and it was... Of course, I was mad. Of course I was mad. I felt horrible that he'd done it. "
