It was widely reported in the press and on social media that Amber Heard stole Kate James 'rape story'. This is a false accusation based on a deliberate misinterpretation of what Kate actually claimed.
In Amber's fifth UK Witness statement she recounts a conversation with Kate James in which Amber talks about the abuse she suffered from Depp and how Kate consoled her. Amber recounts that Kate was upset that she used the word 'victim' instead of 'survivor'.

Stolen Rape Conversation
Kate claims that on seeing Amber's fifth witness statement she was shocked and dismayed to see that "Ms Heard had stolen my sexual violence conversation".
Kate had not seen Amber's rape claims
At this point, Kate had not seen Amber's actual rape story. This was dealt with in a private annex of the trial and Kate was not privy to it. The judge clarifies this.

Kate's story nothing like Ambers
To add even more context, Kate's rape story is nothing like Ambers. Amber claimed to have been raped with a bottle by her husband, Depp. Kate claimed that she was travelling in Brazil when she was woken by her rapist, driven to a secluded spot and raped while being threatened with a machete.
Kate caught lying
During the UK trial it became apparent that there was no love lost between Amber and Kate and that Depp had initiated calls to 'fix' the trial with Kate's help. Kate lied about her contact with Depp but texts showed her testimony to be untrue.
